The Menopause Stress Reset:
Why your nervous system feels overloaded and what to do about it
With Cat Merrick, Wellbeing Coach & Educator, Buteyko breath work coach, and founder of 'This Vibrant Life'
Venue: Darwin Community Centre, Frankwell, Shrewsbury. SY3 8JY
Date: Thursday June 11th 2026.
Time: 7-9pm
In this practical and reassuring talk, Cat explains what’s happening in the brain and body during the menopause transition and why your stress response may feel heightened. She’ll explore how breathing patterns change in midlife, how this impacts anxiety and sleep, and what actually helps.
Have you noticed that stress feels different in midlife? Perhaps you’re more reactive, more anxious, sleeping less deeply or feeling overwhelmed by things that once felt manageable. You’re not imagining it and you’re not “too sensitive.” During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal shifts directly influence the HPA axis, the system that regulates your stress response. This can make your nervous system more alert and slower to settle, meaning everyday stress can feel amplified. You’ll leave with simple, evidence-informed tools, including how to use your breath more effectively, how to complete the stress response and how to reduce your overall stress load, so you can feel steadier, clearer and more in control.
